To give some zip to your lethargic FileMaker databases, routinely compress them. According to Claris, compressing should be performed every few weeks to increase speed and save in file size. One of my databases slimmed down from 488k to 323k with compression.

Occasional problems crop up with fonts when you move a FileMaker Pro from one Mac to another. Try removing the Claris Fonts file and the Claris Temp file from the Claris Folder — that is inside your System Folder.
