A Plantronics USB microphone could not get any input into a MacBook. Setting it up in System Preferences/Sound did no good. It turned out that system 10.4.10 had disabled input from a Plantronics microphone, as a default. This can be changed in Utilities/Audio Midi Setup, selecting Plantronics and unchecking a “mute” button. ~ Bruce Craven
